The Eight Fold Path : Yama or Restraints

Yoga is not just about asanas but a life style. It is about noticing your thoughts, and actions. The Yama, in the eight fold path of yoga teaches to remove the negative thoughts and patterns of your life.
There are five Yama's: Ahimsa (Nonviolence), Satya (Truth), Asteya (Abstention From Stealing), Brahmacharya (Chastity, Moderation), and Aparigraha (Greedlessness).

There are many points to make regarding these five Yama but one in particular is the Ahimsa. Of course a person should not harm others in terms of actions and words. Also Ahimsa should be looked at for the "self" as well.
There have been many times when you might be down on yourself for one reason or another. It could be a goal you tried to reach and did not, or the way you "feel" you look and so forth. The intention is to first notice when that feeling comes up and let it pass. Choose to look forward and not in the past as well as accept where you are at. Everyone is special and different in their own way!!!! Learning to accept where you are and not look in the past can be difficult but not impossible.

Try this::: Choose one aspect or point in your life you feel you continue to be hard on your self. Once you have "it" choose to accept the goodness you have, choose to accept you and movie forward not looking back.

Pose of the month

Twist:
Start out laying on the floor: back on floor bend knees and arms out in "T" form. Bring knees toward the chest as you exhale bring both knees to the right side and (if you are able to) look over to your left. Hold for about 30 sec to a minute or longer (for yin yoga). as you inhale bring knees and head to center and repeat on other side.
